ABOUT PASHMINAS

Origins

Pashminas are hand spun scarves and shawls; They are made from the finest type of cashmere wool. The textiles made from it were first woven in Kashmir, India. The name comes from Persian “pašmina”, meaning “made from wool” and literally translates to “Soft Gold” in Kashmiri. The wool comes from three breeds of the Pashmina goat; namely the Changthangi or Kashmir Pashmina goat, the Chegu, and Chyangara or Nepalese Pashmina goat. Pashmina shawls and products are hand spun, and woven in Indian Kashmir and Nepal, and made from fine cashmere fibre.

Caring for your Pashmina

Congratulations, you are the owner of a world famous Pashmina scarf. Please roll your scarf when it is not being worn. This prevents ‘wear’ along the fold lines. Your scarf must be hand washed in mild detergent – dish washing liquid. As natural fibres have been used to create your Kashmiri scarf, please note that it will shrink with repeated washing.

How to Wear
